WHEN I LIVED IN
OHIO
- I
loved to go fishing on the weekends
- I’d
take the rowboat out
- And
fish for hours on end
IT WAS A
PEACEFUL & EASY TIME
- And
I knew I’d never drift away
- Because
I always threw out the anchor
- …
except for one time
I HAD MY LINE
THROWN OUT
- And
I sat back and closed my eyes
- Knowing
if I got a bite, the line would jerk
- And
I fell asleep
I AWOKE WITH A
SUDDEN SHOCK
- My
boat had drifted downstream
- And
hit a bridge abutment
- 100
yards ahead was a small rapids
HAD I NOT HIT
THE CONCRETE
- I
may have gone over the rapids
- And
I may have
- Lost
my very life
I COULDN’T
FIGURE OUT
- What had
happened
- Until
I saw my anchor
- Still
sitting in the boat
WE GO THROUGH
LIFE
- Oblivious
to danger
- Just
as I was in that boat
- Unaware,
unfocused, unknowing
TO KEEP SAFE IN
A BOAT
- You
need to have an anchor
- And
to keep safe in life
- You
also need an anchor
HEBREWS
6:19
tell us
‘We
have this hope as an anchor for our soul, firm and secure.’
WE ARE TOLD WHAT
AN ANCHOR IS
- In
COLOSSIANS 2
- It
is the hope of faith in Jesus Christ
WITHOUT AN
ANCHOR
- We
drift away
- On
the river
- And
in our lives
AS WE APPROACH
- The
Table of Communion
- Let
us see Jesus as our only hope
- Our
one and only anchor in life
AND LET US
ACKNOWLEDGE
- The
fact that He gave His life
- So
that we might have life – eternal
And
that His promise
- To
each one who believes
- Is
to come back for us
- And
take us home with Him
LET
US PRAY
