Communion

                  Meditations

Genelle Guzman was 31-years old on 9/11

  • She was on the 64th floor

  • Racing down the stair-case

  • As the building around her collapsed

SHE FOUND HERSELF BURIED

  • In what is known as

  • A ‘Triangle of Life’

  • That is where objects fall

  • And end up creating an open space

  • She was in one of those spaces

SHE WAS THE LAST OF 4 PEOPLE

  • Who were pulled out of the rubble …. Alive

  • Her leg was pinned down

  • And there she lay … for 27 hours

IN THE WEEKS BEFORE 9/11

  • She had started going to church

  • And as she lay there in that darkness

  • She started thinking of all she’d learned

AND IT WAS IN THAT DARKNESS

  • That she finally and totally surrendered to Jesus

  • And between short periods of peaceful sleep

  • She began to pray in earnest

Shortly after noon on Wednesday the 12th

  • She heard voices

  • She screamed as loud as she could

THEY ASKED IF SHE COULD SEE ANY LIGHT

  • She couldn’t, but she found a piece of concrete

  • And began banging the slab above her

  • They heard it and nearly a half hour later

  • They pulled her out of the rubble

WE ARE BURIED UNDER OUR OWN RUBBLE

  • The Bible calls this rubble ‘SIN’

  • We have no way of crawling out - - by ourselves

IT IS ONLY THROUGH JESUS

  • That we can be rescued

  • As He reaches out to us

  • We need only to grab His hand

AS WE ENTER THIS TIME OF COMMUNION

  • Let us remember

  • That all we have to do is cry out,

  • ‘Jesus, save me!’

  • And He will pull us out of our rubble

WE WERE DEAD IN OUR SIN

  • But we were saved

  • By Grace

  • Through Jesus Christ

LET’S PRAY
