HAVE
YOU EVER FORGOTTEN SOMETHING?
- Maybe
where you put your car keys
- Or
your wallet or purse
- All
of us have forgotten things
- Because
we are a forgetful people
DI
D YOU KNOW THAT GOD FORGETS, TOO?
- Peter
said God ‘knows all things’
- John
said He was an “all knowing” God
- But
there is one thing He forgets
GOD
FORGETS YOUR SINS
- The
‘All-Knowing’ becomes
- The
‘All Forgiving’ and the ‘All Forgetting’
- And
He expects us to forget them, too
BUT AS MUCH AS
HE WANTS US TO FORGET
- He also wants us
to remember
- To
remember what He did for us
1
CORINTHIANS 11:24-25
tells us
‘On
the night He was betrayed, the Lord Jesus took the bread and when
He had given thanks for it, He broke it, offering it to each
disciple saying, “This is my body, which is for you – do this
in remembrance of me.
‘In
the same way after supper, he took the cup saying, “This cup is
the new promise in my blood – do this whenever you drink it –
in remembrance of me.’
BUT I THINK
- There
is something else we must remember –
- We
must remember WHY He gave Himself up.
- He
did that because He loves us
WHAT AN
EXPERIENCE HE OFFERS US
- The
forgetfulness of forgiveness
- And
the greatest love we will ever know
LET US PRAY
Father,
we come before you at this time of Communion, to remember what
Your Son did for us. And
Father, we ask that you direct our hearts, our focus, and our
lives – to put away those things in this world so that we might
walk after Him. In
Jesus’ name we pray … Amen.
