(Hold a Bible behind your back.  Then, ask the congregation if they are able to see it.  When they say “No”, ask them why.  They will say it is because it is behind your back and therefore they cannot see it.)

THEY SAY A PICTURE

• Is worth a thousand words

• The Old Testament offers us two pictures  

• about our sins

ISAIAH 38:17 says,

‘Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish.  In Your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; by putting all my sins behind Your back.’

I COULD NOT SEE MY BIBLE

• When I hid it behind me

• And God cannot see your sins

• When He hides them behind Him

BUT GOD DIDN’T STOP THERE

• He gives us another promise

MICAH  7:19

‘You will have compassion on us; You will walk on our sins; and You will hurl them into the depths of the sea.’

GOD THROWS OUR SIN

• Into the depths of the sea

• And while Satan may become a scuba diver

• So he can go out and find them

• Hoping to use them against us ...

GOD IS BUSY BUILDING UP HIS KINGDOM

• For His glory

• And He is using people like us to do it!

WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE

• The Psalmist paints for us

• Showing how much God loves us ….

AND … WHAT A WONDERFUL WAY

• To go into Communion –

• By remembering what God does with our sin

• Once we receive His Son as our Master
