Communion

                  Meditations

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
  • Priests were always busy
  • They always seemed to have
  • One more sacrifice to do
  • Because one more person had committed a sin

IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

  • It was unheard of
  • For a priest to sit idly
  • For they always had business to tend to

IF YOU WERE TO GO INTO A BUSINESS

  • And see all the employees sitting down
  • You might think they were done working for the day
  • Because people are not motionless
  • When there is work to be done

BUT AS WE GO INTO THE BOOK OF HEBREWS

  • We see what we have never seen before
  • A priest sitting down

HEBREWS 1:3b  READS,

‘After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in Heaven.’

WHEN JESUS WORK WAS DONE

  • He sat down by His Father

WHILE ON THE CROSS

  • He looked up at the Father
  • And loudly proclaimed,
  • “It is finished!”

AND BECAUSE HIS WORK IS DONE

  • We can now call ourselves saved …
  • There is no more “re-offering” to do
  • He was the perfect – and the final – sacrifice

IT CAN BE SAID NO BETTER THAN …

‘For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever shall believe in Him shall not perish by have everlasting life.’

AS WE GO INTO COMMUNION

  • Let us remember that our salvation
  • Is complete, but complete only through Jesus
