WHEN PEOPLE VISIT

• The Vietnam Wall

• They experience intense emotions

IT DOESN’T MATTER

• If they were in Vietnam or not

• Because that wall is such

• A powerful memorial

AND WHAT MAKES IT SO EMOTIONAL

• Is the list of tens of thousands of names

• That are inscribed on it

WE CANNOT JUST LOOK AT THE WALL

• And think of the group of men

• Who sacrificed their lives for us

FOR WE ARE GIVEN THE INDIVIDUAL NAMES

• Of each person who made that sacrifice

• And it is in this list of so many names

• That we find the true meaning of sacrifice

IT MEANS TO GIVE SOMETHING UP

• That is important to us

• For a more important purpose

• Something that will help others

AND SO WE FIND IN COMMUNION

• Such a sacrifice

• a sacrifice that should also

• make us feel intense emotion -

• The sacrifice our Savior made for us

• All so that we would not have to suffer

HE TOOK IT UPON HIS OWN BODY

• To keep us safe

• And He did it for only one reason

• He loves us that much

IN 1 CORINTHIANS

• We see where Jesus told Paul

• To remember what He did for us

• And why He did it

• And that He is coming back again …
