In Mel Gibson’s Movie, “The Passion of Christ”

• There is one detail

• Most people miss

• But that detail says so much

AS JESUS IS PLACED ON THE CROSS

• We never see the face

• Of the man who drives the spikes

THERE WAS A GOOD REASON

• Why his face was never shown - -

• Because he was a reflection of us

IT WAS A REFLECTION

• Of sin

• All sin

• Our sin

IT WASN’T THE JEWS OR THE ROMANS

• Who actually nailed Jesus to the cross
  It was sin that nailed Him

AND IT WAS LOVE

• That kept Him on the cross

• His tremendous love for us

Colossians 2:13-14

• Says when we were dead in our sinful nature

• We were made alive in Christ

• He forgave us of our sin

• And He nailed our sin to the cross

AS WE PARTAKE OF THE LORD’S SUPPER

• Let us remember His sacrifice

• That was made for those

• Who crucified Him out of their sin - -

• A sacrifice made for us

AND LET US REMEMBER

• That He loved us so very much

• That He is on His way back

• To take us home with Him
