IN THE 3rd CHAPTER OF RUTH

  • We see where two people

  • Who never knew each other

  • Came to love and trust each other

RUTH WAS A WIDOW

  • Boaz was her late husband’s

  • Next of kin

SO BY TRADITION

  • He could elect to marry her

  • So she would be taken care of

  • One of the Bible’s beautiful love stories

BUT THERE IS ANOTHER LOVE STORY

  • A love story much deeper

  • Having much greater impact

  • It is the story of God’s love for us

IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN

  • God killed an animal

  • And used its hide

  • To make clothing for Adam and Eve

EVER SINCE THEN

  • Life blood had to be 

  • the covering for our sins

  • But the blood from the animals they sacrificed

  • Only covered our sins for one year

GOD WANTED US BACK SO MUCH

  • He devised a plan

  • That would cover our sins for good

THAT PLAN WAS MANIFESTED

  • By having Jesus become

  • That blood sacrifice

AND JESUS REQUIRED US

  • To remember why He did it

  • In the form of this communion 

AND SO, AS WE ENTER

  • This time of sacred remembrance

  • Let us do so

  • Focusing fully on our Savior -

  • What He did for us

  • And why He did it
