WHEN WE TAKE OF
COMMUNION
- We
tend to think about the Last Supper
- And
that is okay ….
- But
what about what happened after the supper ?
JESUS KNEW WHAT
WAS GOING TO HAPPEN
- And he took his
closest friends
- So
he would be comforted
- In
his time of greatest need
IF JESUS WERE
FULLY GOD
- He
would have faced this alone
- But
since he was also man
- He
needed his friend’s comfort
HE THEN TURNED
TO GOD IN PRAYER
- He
asked God 3 times
- To
release him from that burden
- God
refused … 3 times
WHEN WE HAVE OUR
GREAT NEEDS
- We
surround ourselves with others
- So
we can be comforted
- And
then we go to prayer
JESUS FRIENDS
FAILED HIM
- They
fell asleep
- How
many times
- Have
our friends failed us ?
HOW MANY TIMES
- Have
we prayed for something
- We
never got ?
HOW DOES THIS
RELATE TO US TODAY ?
- It
shows that Jesus can relate
- To
us on a very personal level
- And
He is ready to comfort us
WHAT KEPT JESUS
ON THAT CROSS ?
- It
wasn’t the nails
- It
was His love for us
- He
died for each one of us
DO WE HAVE
- That same kind
of love for Him ?
1 CORINTHIANS
11:27-28
‘Therefore,
whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an
unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and
blood of the Lord. A
man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and
drinks of the cup.’
JESUS DIED FOR
US
- Is
it too much to ask
- That
we live for Him ?
AS WE GO INTO
OUR TIME OF COMMUNION
- Let
us really examine our hearts
- And
see where He really fits in them
