WE SUFFER MUCH IN THIS LIFE

  • We get discouraged  &  depressed

SOMETIMES WE CAN’T SEE BEYOND OUR TROUBLES

  • And oftentimes, we tend to give up

  • But then sometimes,  we hear words of encouragement

  • Like what Paul wrote in …

2 CORINTHIANS 4:16-18

We don't give up.  Our bodies are becoming weaker, but our spirits are being renewed with each passing day.  In reality, our troubles are small.  They will only last a short time.  But they are earning for us a glory that will last forever.  And that glory is greater than all of our troubles.

So we don't spend all your time focusing on your problems.  Instead, look at what you cannot see with your eyes.  What you can see only lasts for a short time, but what you cannot see is going to last forever.

WE CAN SEE

  • The bread and the drink

  • But they will only last for a moment

  • And then they are gone

BUT THEY HELP US TO FOCUS

  • On the unseen things of Jesus Christ

  • The eternal things of Jesus

IN THIS BREAD

  • We can see the broken body of Jesus

  • And in this drink

  • We can see the blood that was shed by Him

BY SEEING THESE THINGS

  • His forgiveness becomes very real to us

And in that forgiveness

  • We cannot become discouraged or depressed

  • Because we know we have a Savior

  • One who gave Himself – so that we don’t have to

IF WE PUT OUR TROUBLES IN A BAG

  • the bag seems quite large

  • but if we take that bag to the cross

  • and lay it at the bottom

  • we see the cross is so much bigger

  • than any problems we might have

LET US FOCUS ON
  • the greatness of the eternal Christ
  • and take our focus off our temporary troubles

LET US PRAY
