THE LAST FEW WEEKS

  • I have been teaching about Communion

HOW A CUP & 1 SMALL LOAF OF BREAD

  • Was always kept separate

  • During the Passover Meal  (or SADR)

  • So if the Messiah came, it would be His

HOW NOBODY EVER TOUCHED IT

  • Because it was held sacred and holy

  • Until Jesus took it and by doing so

  • Proclaimed Himself the long-awaited-for Messiah

READ 1 CORINTHIANS 11:23-25

LET ME EXPLAIN THAT PASSAGE

JESUS TOOK THAT CUP & LOAF OF BREAD  

He broke the bread and thanked God for it  ---  and then said,  'This represents my body, which will be broken for your sakes.'

After supper, he took the cup

  • He gave thanks and said

This represents the new promise established through my blood.  Each time you drink of the cup, remember this, and remember it is me who enables you to have that promise.

WE WILL BE DRAWN TO THIS TABLE

  • Over and over again

  • But we must never let it

  • Become a mere tradition

IT IS A HOLY ACT

  • Done to remember our holy Savior
