Communion

                  Meditations

NEARLY 1500 PASSOVER DINNERS

  • Had come and gone

  • Between Moses & Jesus

THE DISCIPLES HAD SEEN

  • Many changes occur in the tradition of that supper

THEY SAW THE ADDITION OF MUSIC

  • Psalms of David were added

  • They no longer stood as they did, ready to go

  • They now sat on couches –

  • It had become a dinner of remembrance

ONE THING REMAINED THE SAME THOUGH

  • There remained 3 pieces of unleavened bread

  • And 4 cups of wine on the table

  • One loaf of bread and one cup of wine

  • Was NEVER touched – by anyone

  • Because it belonged to the Messiah

  • If He were to come during that meal

BUT AT THE LAST SUPPER

  • Jesus did something that nobody had ever done

  • He took that bread and cup

THIS WOULD HAVE STARTLED THEM

  • For in the act of taking them

  • He boldly declared Himself that Messiah

When we see who JESUS REALLY Is

  • It shatters our complacency

  • And forces us to analyze and think

Such tiny glimpses of glory

  • Are given during communion

  • To draw us closer to Him

  • In ways we have not previously attained

WHEN HE LIFTED THE CUP HE SAID

  • This is the new covenant in MY blood

  • He broke the bread and said it was His body

  • As we partake of these emblems today

  • Let us do so, with a heart that yearns for Him

  • And a mind that looks in His direction

LET US PRAY
