1 CORINTHIANS 11:24-25

‘ … and when He had given thanks, He broke the bread and said, “This is My body, given up for you - - do this in remembrance of Me.  Likewise, after supper, He took the last cup, saying, “This is the new promise in My blood - - do this when you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

JESUS' EARTHLY BODY SUFFERED MUCH

  • He traveled long distances.

  • He was often hungry and thirsty

  • He suffered harassment and rejection

  • Because people focused more on themselves

  • Than they did on God

Eventually, He was betrayed by a friend

  • His body was tortured and beaten

  • He was finally hanged on a cross

  • Literally hanging from being nailed to it

Jesus was fully God

  • And He was fully man

  • The God in Him suffered spiritually

  • The man in Him suffered physically

BUT IT IS BECAUSE OF WHAT HE WENT THROUGH

  • That He can now sustain us in Him

  • so we don’t have to go thru the same punishment

His glorified body is different

  • From His earthly body

  • It still bore the marks of His crucifixion

  • But it also bears the glory

Why did He go thru that for us?

  • So that we would depend on Him for our life

  • And not upon the world

  • For it cannot give life

What Jesus give us during the Lord’s Supper

  • Is not just the bread and drink

  • But the essence of His glorified body

The nourishment He gives

  • are eternal, unchanging

  • and adequate for our ever need

So, let us remember Him here …

  • And carry that memory into our lives away from here

  • So that we might glorify Him in all we do

LET’S PRAY
