Communion

                  Meditations

WE ARE GIVEN 2 ORDINANCES TO OBSERVE

  • Baptism; which is a one time event

  • Communion; which is observed over and over again

we observe Communion

  • Because the Lord told us to

  • And because it helps us to focus on Him

1 Corinthians 11:24

And when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me."

1 CORINTHIANS 11:28

A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.

BEFORE WE PARTAKE, WE EXAMINE OURSELVES

  • To make sure our hearts

  • Are properly focused on

  • And obedient to ….. Jesus Christ

  • And to purge anything in our hearts

  • That would keep us from doing these things

John 6:53-54

So Jesus said again, “I assure you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you cannot have eternal life within you.  But those that eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them at the last day.

COMMUNION

  • keeps Jesus in the forefronts of our minds

  • and that helps to keep us obedient unto Him

COMMUNION IS

  • our holy statement of faith

  • given from a humbled and contrite heart
